How we helped Simcorner experience 5X in Business Growth in less than 14 Months


SIMCorner is an Australian-based online retailer of travel prepaid SIM cards aimed at international travellers. Partnering with telecommunication providers across the Americas, Asia and Europe, SIMCorner helps its users stay connected with locally priced calls, texts and data on a SIM card that can be purchased and delivered before their flight.

Initial Situation

5 years into the business, SIMCorner had been growing its business operations steadily and had organically developed into a 7-figure business. With growth came the growth pains – the symptoms being staggering bounce rates and low conversion rates on the website. There were thousands of visitors coming on to the website but only a few were turning into customers. But there was more. The owners were frustrated with their website that was riddled with Google Analytics implementation issues, frequent site crashes, security bugs and payment transaction failures. It was clear that the site also needed a full refresh when it came to the lack of quality user experience.

We sifted through the existing problems and revisited SIMCorner’s e-Commerce strategy, determined to help transform the online store and the business to surpass its competitors and become the #1 choice for travel SIM cards.

How We Helped

Like travelling, embarking on the journey can be exciting. But, the ride itself might be a different story. Right at the start we inherited bad code and shoddy work from the previous web development agency, and as a result needed to do a full overhaul of the website while migrating all the features and data seamlessly.

Over time we implemented our strategies based on the E-commerce Flywheel framework, which covers the Store, Traffic and Customer components:


We refreshed SIMCorner’s eCommerce store and moved it to a more stable version of Magento 2, rebranded it and significantly improved User Experience. We eventually upgraded it to Shopify Plus platform once we fulfilled the criteria and performed this migration seamlessly too.

Keeping a close eye on Google Analytics, we saw that SIMCorner’s mobile traffic had significantly low conversion results – an aspect that did not match up to the actual shopping habits of their target consumers. Using web design practices that put mobile requirements before desktop along with a design specific to SIMCorner’s site activity, we enhanced overall mobile-friendliness, used our insights on audience activity and incorporated this with our digital marketing strategies to bolster sales.


We added an optimization strategy that maximised Search exposure and reinvigorated the direction of SIMCorner’s e-Commerce growth and website performance. A renewed and scalable Google Shopping / Google Ads strategy ensured SIMCorner’s products stood out against its competitors and our Bag of Words tool helped save on excess Ad Spend – which meant that more money could be re-invested into their growth.


Simcorner had built a large database of customers over time, which grew exponentially as we scaled out the traffic and optimised the site conversion rates. We planned the e-mail marketing strategy for the client, building out email marketing automation as well as tactical sales campaigns that would drive sales and increase customer lifetime value of existing customers.

A. Feb 2018 – New Online Store Launch

Our first project with Simcorner is a success! The website conversion rate pretty much DOUBLED (93% increase in YoY conversion rate in first 3 months after launch) 

B. May 2018 – Started Google Ads Management

We took over the Google Ads and applied our strategies – seeing 144% YoY Growth in first 3 months after launch!

C. Mar 2019 – Launched Mobile Dedicated Site

New Mobile Website significantly improved Mobile SEO performance:
