SIMCorner is an Australian-based brand that provides a range of prepaid SIM cards to international travellers. Partnering with telecommunication providers across the Americas, Asia and Europe, SIMCorner helps its users stay connected with locally priced calls, texts and data on a SIM card that can be purchased and delivered before their flight.

5 years into the business, SIMCorner came to us with a view to expand. Being at the starting phase of their business, we worked off a list of issues their website was facing and quickly evaluated the main causes and concerns.

The site faced staggering bounce rates at the time, and SIMCorner was rapidly losing eyeballs and potential sales despite having website traffic. But there was more. From Google Analytics implementation issues, frequent site crashes, security bugs to payment transaction failures, it was clear that the site also needed a full refresh when it came to looks and a fix in terms of a lack of quality user experience.

We sifted through the existing problems and revisited SIMCorner’s e-Commerce strategy, determined to help transform the online store from a just another storefront to a holistically enjoyable online shopping experience – one that was functional, elegantly streamlined and would speedily serve a globetrotting audience’s need for connection

Experiencing Some Turbulence

Like travelling, embarking on the journey can be exciting. But, the ride itself might be a different story. Integrating our solutions to function seamlessly set off a chain of false starts as we also inherited work from a previous developer. A complete content migration had to be carried out – one which included all features and databases. On top of that, we found ourselves navigating through a history of patch fixes before arriving upon other known issues. Several troubleshooting challenges appeared constantly, and what seemingly required simple solutions, came with even more issues that weren’t visible at the start.

Clearly, this was a bag full of obstacles we did not pack ourselves.

The only way out was to buckle down, envision our collaborative goals and reverse engineer them from there.

Eventually, we found 3 main strategies that moved the needle in boosting SIMCorner’s visibility and growth.

  • A. Stabilizing the Storefront

    We refreshed SIMCorner’s eCommerce store and moved it to a more stable version of Magento, rebranded it and significantly improved User Experience by simplifying everything. Soon, making a SIMCorner purchase practically felt like a vacation.

  • B. Results-Driven Strategy Purposefully Applied

    We added an optimization strategy that maximised Search exposure and reinvigorated the direction of SIMCorner’s e-Commerce growth and website performance. A renewed Google Shopping / Google Ads strategy ensured SIMCorner’s products stood out against its competitors and our Bag of Words tool helped save on excess Ad Spend – which meant that more money could be re-invested into their growth.

  • C. Mobile-First and Forwards

    Keeping a close eye on Google Analytics, we saw that SIMCorner’s mobile traffic had significantly low conversion results – an aspect that did not match up to the actual shopping habits of their target consumers. Using web design practices that put mobile requirements before desktop along with a design specific to SIMCorner’s site activity, we enhanced overall mobile-friendliness, used our insights on audience activity and incorporated this with our digital marketing strategies to bolster sales.

What happened after we launched SIMCorner’s Magento site.

A. Feb 2018 – New Online Store Launch

Our first project with Simcorner is a success! The website conversion rate pretty much DOUBLED (93% increase in YoY conversion rate in first 3 months after launch) 

B. May 2018 – Started Google Ads Management

We took over the Google Ads and applied our strategies – seeing 144% YoY Growth in first 3 months after launch!

C. Mar 2019 – Launched Mobile Dedicated Site

New Mobile Website significantly improved Mobile SEO performance:
